Overview
Apache Fineract is an open-source core banking engine providing accounts, loans, savings, and journal entries through a REST API. Mifos X is the reference distribution, with web and mobile clients maintained by the Mifos Initiative.
It was built for microfinance and is used more broadly. Because it is self-hosted, the operator is responsible for deployment, upgrades, and the accounting configuration. There are no per-account fees and the data model is fully accessible.
